As a web designer, if you don’t already use the web developer plugin for Firefox, then you’ll love the functionality of this web application. CSS Fly allows you to edit not only the CSS, but also the source code of a website - on the fly. Simply type in the URL of the webpage you’re looking to edit and CSS Fly will automatically identify & load the stylesheets into a frame which contains your editing tools. You can set the positioning of the editing frame to suit your preference.
CSSFly caches the HTML-Code and the CSS-Files of your demanded Website and opens a frameset with two frames. The one frame contains the code-data and makes it editable using a custom HTML-textarea. The other frame agitates as the display-container for the changed website. Within every change in the HTML- or CSS-Code, the display-container will be refreshed.
If you’re a designer, then you’re probably already familiar with the above mentioned FF plugin. You’re probably also familiar then, with its inability to load the background images of stylesheets that don’t have an absolute path. In such cases, CSS Fly provides a great means of editing your CSS and XHTML within your browser and in real time. The design is pretty plain and simple, but then again, it doesn’t have to be bling. It’s a functional web application that serves a great purpose.
