Deskload is a great little Ajax application that you can use to store your bookmarks online. Designed to cater more for smaller amounts of bookmarks, Deskload has a computer desktop-like interface that allows you to create and then simply drag & drop your bookmarks into neat little groups of links. You can set an icon for your bookmark from an existing icon library or use your own. The settings allow you to customize your Deskload page’s background, font and link colors etc, as well as the way your links are handled (new window or inline) and if your icons are becoming a little messy, you can align them up neatly too.
Deskload is a tool that allows you to store your bookmarks online in a same way that you organize your desktop icons. Move and place your bookmarks, customize your deskload appearance and access your Deskload from any computer.
Definitely one of my favorite features, is the ability to create multiple desktops within your account and you can name them accordingly. So for example, you can create a Deskload called “Applications”, and on that page you can store all your bookmarks to the various applications you use. You could also create a Deskload page for your client’s websites and webpages relating to their project. What I’d like to see is the ability to align the icons vertically or horizontally and perhaps the ability to determine the space between the icons. Also it’d be great to have a “remember me” feature on the login because it gets a little painful to have to type out my login details each time.
Other than that, I’m pretty stoked with this little app. It’s all really quite cool and after the investigation I did for this blog post, I’m definitely going to be using Deskload a lot more. Nice work.
