Newsgator have recently launched a beta version of an online, Ajax powered RSS Reader, and so far I’m quite impressed. It’s simple, fluid design is nicely managed by an unobtrusive top and side navigation that’ll easily guide you through adding your feeds and your preferences for viewing them. Ajax pop-in widows allow you to manage your settings, add feeds and setup your feed folders smoothly and easily.

NewsGator helps individuals and businesses improve the way they find information and communicate internally and externally. We offer a wide range of RSS aggregation products and social media tools.

It’s still in beta, so they’re working through a couple of tweaks and necessary changes but albeit in an initial phase, this web application shows good potential for becoming a strong, reliable online feed reader. Your feed articles are rate-able and I like the fact that I can change the read status of entire feed folders, instead of one by one. Another great bonus is that you can comment on articles directly in Newsgator’s application thanks to a swiftly loading Ajax pop-in. This means that you can glean the juicy content from your favorite sites without having to leave the feedreader. I’m not 100% convinced that this is entirely a good thing, but its a nifty feature nonetheless.
