I love the idea behind this site. You sign up as an ‘Agency’ or ‘Designer’ and you provide a list of all the websites you’ve designed. A small HTML ‘key’ identify’s the site as yours and you’re able to add the site to your list. The result? Users can search Prodigious for a website and if it’s entered, you’ll be able to find the agency/designer behind your favorite sites. When doing work for some larger corporates, they’re sometimes against the idea of having a reciprocal link back to you. Prodigious is great to get some kind of credit for your design work.

Prodigious is for anyone who wants to know who is responsible for a site they like, and anyone that wants to take credit for the sites they make. For instance, you need a website built and you have found some other sites that you think are great. You’d like to contact the agencies that made the sites to discuss your project, but don’t know how to find them. Or, you are an agency, and you make great sites. You want potential clients to be able to find you. Prodigious can help in both cases. And, it’s easy! And Free!

This site has lots of room to grow and I hope it does just that. Currently, the search for my favorite sites returned zero results. Which basically means that it hasn’t caught on properly just yet and the agencies/designers behind the sites haven’t signed up & added their list of sites. I’m hoping that this’ll change soon as this is a cool idea with some good potential. I do think however, that the information captured on agencies as well as the sites could be a bit more extensive and targeted. Perhaps items like ‘date of creation’, ‘technologies used’ etc could be added for the sites to provide a bit more than just an arbitrary list.

Otherwise, a slick, fast-loading design and a very useful site with great growth potential. I’m hoping it’ll catch on.
