Less Accounting
These guys have created a nice, easy to use UI for managing your small company’s books. You can keep track of clients, contacts, invoices, whether they’ve paid or not (great feature), expenses - including a mileage log, and at the end of the month, you can print out all the necessary documentation to make your accountant love you and charge you less.
I liked the self-description on the site:
Writing software is very easy, writing good software is very, very hard. At Less, we work very hard to make things easy for the end users. The goal of Less is to write software that aids people, rather than hinders them: software that get out of their way.

Hopefully this accounting software application won’t be the last thing we see out of this little development studio.

Isn’t this app kinda clumsy? I know it’s still a beta product, but it’s a business app that feels like it was built by a few college kids. I’d expect a lot more “business sense” from an app like this.
There certainly are a lot of applications in this space. It’ll be interesting to see who ultimately gets traction.
I think you have a point there George… I tried the app during its very early beta stage and it definitely had a few kinks, but I feel it has potential. Maybe a version or two from now will bring it to a good level of efficiency.
Hey George, college kids…no, small business people that hate quickbooks…yes. We don’t use quickbooks naming conventions or even GAAP naming conventions so don’t get the impression that we’re a mini-quickbook clone.
